Using Internet Explorer to FTP Files

FTP Instructions for Internet Explorer 6

  1. Point your browser to ftp://domain.com (where domain.com is the domain you wish to connect to)
  2. An “FTP Folder Error” window will open. Ignore it and click OK.
  3. Click on FILE and select LOGIN AS.
  4. For username, enter your hosting account username
  5. For password, enter your hosting account password
  6. Click LOGON
  7. The browser will display the contents of your FTP folder. Drag and drop the files you want to upload into the FTP folder.
  8. When finished uploading, simply close your browser to end your FTP session.  

FTP Instructions for Internet Explorer 7

  1. Point your browser to ftp://domain.com (where domain.com is the domain you wish to connect to)
  2. A “Connection Error” window will open. Click on VIEW and select OPEN FTP SITE IN WINDOWS EXPLORER.
  3. An “FTP Folder Error” window will open. Ignore it and click OK.
  4. Click on FILE and select LOGIN AS.
  5. For username, enter your hosting account username
  6. For password, enter your hosting account password
  7. Click LOGON
  8. The browser will display the contents of your FTP folder. Drag and drop the files you want to upload into the FTP folder.
  9. When finished uploading, simply close your browser to end your FTP session.
